KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

Must pass pre-employment examination.

DUTIES:
As a Staff Nurse you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of the simple to complex medical/surgical pat! ient. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health care team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.

Tour of Duty: Requires rotating shifts to include, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

**A minimum of 1-2 years of RN Nursing experience is required for this position**

Citizenship:
Must be a citizen of the United St! ates. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with current regulations).

Physical Standards

:

All applicants must be physically and mentally able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.

A pre-placement physical examination shall be completed prior to appointment.

Licensure

:

Applicant must possess full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed Registered Nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United Sates, or the District of Columbia.

English Language Proficiency

:

Applicant must be proficient in both spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Education

:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency

and

accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at t! he time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Exceptions include:
(1) Health care education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full RN licensure will be accepted as meeting the education requirements for VHA employment.

(2)

VHA employees who were converted to appointments under 38 U.S.C. 7401(3) in implementation of Public Law 98-160, enacted November 21, 1983, and for VHA employees converted to appointments under 38 U.S.C. 7405 in implementation of Public Law 99-576, enacted October 28, 1986; and for their future personnel actions under this authority.

The waiver will not apply to persons appointed under 38 U.S.C. 7401(3) or 7405 after these conversions.
