Applicants Please Note: This position is scheduled for evenings (2:30 - 11:00 pm) and is currently located in Morrisville but may be assigned to Middlesex. Position will move to new facility in Berlin in Spring of 2014 .

General Job Description

Psychiatric Technician duties invol! ve the care of patients and maintenance of a therapeutic and c! lean environment in an assigned patient care area. Employees in this class receive formal instruction and related clinical experience in addition to performing regular patient care duties. Employees may be required to provide training to other staff as a routine assignment. Successful completion of training and experience requirements at the Psychiatric Technician level may result in advancement to the level of Associate Psychiatric Technician without regard to existing vacancies or formal reclassification action. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Psychiatric Nurse and/or a Senior Psychiatric Technician. Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: Two years work experience, military service or college training,
plus at least six months full time work experience as a Psychiatric Technician or Mental Health Technician in an institutional mental health setting.

Requirements: Mental and physical condition appropriate to successfully perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential job functions.

Note: Employees in this class may be reallocated to the class of Associate Psychiatric Technician upon successful completion of Vera Hanks Program and 3 years of direct clinical care experience as a Psychiatric Technician.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Overtime work may be required to maintain safe staffing levels and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime as required is considered an essential function of this job class.
