Location: Burlington Vermont

Description: Burlington Public Schools is at present looking to employ Statent Data Manager right now, this occupation will be placed in Vermont. JOB GOAL:To maintain the District student data management software system, produce timely reports for local, state and federal authorities, and provide support and training for school personnel using the system.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. -At least two (2) years of training and/or experience with computer and network, required. -Familiar with the Windows environment, required. -Proficient with MS Access and MS Excel, required.

  • Experience with relational databases, including developing reports, linking tables, and import/export of data in different formats, required.-Experience with Crystal Reports, SQL Server 2008, MS SQL Server Management Studio data tables, preferred. -Experience with managing roles and user accounts on data systems, required.-Experience with school or district level data systems, preferred.-Familiarity with IIS and Windows 2008 servers, preferred.-Familiarity with remote desktop access for user support, preferred.-Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.-Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills.-Must be able to multi-task and work under time constraints.-Must have strong problem solving and process analysis skills. -Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. -Must demonstrate ability to stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Must work with data tables in a SQL environment.-Must learn and use SQL reporting tools, such as Crystal Reports.-Must be able to read/understand documentation to implement and support upgrades to student management systemESSENTIAL DUTIES:-Train and support school administrative staff, guidance personnel, principals, nurses, and other district personnel on student management system software and associated required state and federal reports, at various district locations.-Monitor data inputting to insure consistency and accuracy, and enter, check and validate student data as necessary.-Work with district administration to develop processes, design databases and design and generate reports that provide information about student progress, student attendance, and other issues necessary to monitor school development and improvement and to improve information validity, reliability and access.-Identify ways the Student Management Software system can be used most effectively and efficiently and work with Director to implement changes.-Produce reports for local, state, and federal purposes when student data is required.-Work with State DOE to ensure appropriate, timely, and correct student information for required state reports.-Work with guidance and technical support personnel on moving student information for scheduling (next year prep and rollover), and maintaining and upgrading Student Management System.-Create appropriate training documents for school staff.-Attend scheduled staff meetings, and participate productively in staff meetings and professional committees.-Comply with Board and administrative policies, regulations, and procedures. -Use discretion in discussing school affairs, recognizing the value of positive school-community relations.-Maintain a high level of confidentiality.-Prepare/Complete appropriate documentation, reports, and paperwork.-Attendance is in accordance with established days/hours of work.-Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate and/or assigned.Position is full-time, 228 days per year, with comprehensive benefits.For further information, please email Paul Irish at pirish@bsdvt.org.
