JOB DESCRIPTION:

Functions as the primary support person to the Nurse Manager for the direction and coordination of nursing care for a specific patient care unit. The ANM collaborates with the nurse manager in assessment and planning for nursing care. She/he carries out the responsibilities of the nurse manager in her/his absence with guidance from the Administrative Director. The Assistant Nurse Manager participates in hiring and evaluation of staff. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective operations of the nursing unit.

EDUCATION:

State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees pr omoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three years of appropriate nursing experience relevant to the clinical specialty of the unit.
