Description: Brattleboro Retreat is at the momment seeking for Director of Professional Development & Nursing Standards right now, this career will be placed in Vermont. Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Senior VP for Patient Care, the Director of Professional Developm! ent and Nursing Standards evaluates, plans and organizes the educational needs and functions of nursing and other hospital staff of the Brattleboro Retreat. The director works collaboratively with Senior VP for Patient Care and other key nurse leaders to establish standards of professional practice and care. Plans, implements and coordinates educational programs and experiences for hospital staff, including nursing orientation. Assures that all educational needs that are required by the state and JCAHO are met and that all required competencies are in place. May assume responsibility for the administration of Patient Care Services in the absence of the SVPPC.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May be required to perform duties of lesser, equal or greater responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1. Must be able to handle multiple assignments in a timely manner.
2. May be required to assist with patient care in selected areas. 3. Good organizational skills and administrative abilities; a! bility to initiate and complete work independently.
4. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work.
5. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics and the state mental health code.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated

1. Graduate of an approved school of nursing and current license to practice as a RN in the State of Vermont.
2. Master's degree in nursing required and certification strongly preferred.
3. Three to five years of psychiatric nursing experience is required. At least two years of experience in education and or teaching strongly preferred.
