DUTIES:
The incumbent will provide operative and non-operative management of the full range of Urology services supported by the infrastructure of the WRJ VA Medical Center. This includes urology inpatient rounds at the VA, attend surgical conference meetings and participate in M&M rounds to discuss surgical morbidity and mortality, assist in the teaching process of surgical residents, and review clinical practice, standards of care, and outcome(s). The incumbent will:

Provide urologic physician services in the treatment of Veterans; treatment will consist of participation in the outpatient clinic.

Provide urology physician services for emergent and electively scheduled operating room cases on an as needed basis.

Provide urology physician services for consultations as needed.

Perform related supportive services for other departments of the Medical Center seeking urologic consultation.

Participate in the education, teaching, and supervision of urology/surgical residents in assessing , evaluating, and planning care for urology patients receiving surgical intervention.

Assist in the teaching of interns, surgical residents, and nursing staff in the care and treatment of urology patients. Â'

Provide teaching of residents and nursing staff in problem solving patient complications of a complex nature that result in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship . Citizen of the United States.

b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

Applicants must provide an official copy of their college transcripts.

c. Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

d. Physical Requirements. Must pass a pre-employment physical.

e. English Language Proficiency. Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English.
