VERMONT RESPITE HOUSE
BASIC FUNCTION
To assist in implementing a medicall! y-directed plan of care for residents of Vermont Respite House in order to assure their wellbeing and safety, as well as to perform activities associated with the daily operation of the house.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Assist in personal care of patients
§ Observe and communicate resident needs and changes in condition to hospice clinical staff.
§ Confer regularly with the hospice clinical team regarding residents' status and treatment plans.
§ Document resident condition and the care provided according to agency standards.
§ Assume leadership responsibilities in emergency situations.
§ Proven ability to work as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS
§ Knowledge of the physical, emotional and psychological needs of individuals who are dying as well as of their family
§ Active State of Vermont Nursing Assistant License
§ Physical ability to perform all personal care! activities and other essential job duties
§ High sc! hool diploma with recent, relevant experience in an independent setting working with clients or patients (or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required).
§ Strong ability to communicate and interact effectively.
§ Ability to identify emergency situations and act appropriately to provide assistance.
§ Understanding and respect of boundary issues.
§ Ability to complete additional training appropriate to the job prior to assignment.
