T he Opportunity:
The Mental Health Technician/Unit Secretary is a member of the interdisciplinary team. In the Resource Department duties include floating to patient care areas and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, documentation, assisting with/facilitating groups, managing emergency situations (to include the physical restraint of patients), and the secretarial aspects of the nursing unit. Duties are performed in accordance with hospital policies and procedures under th! e direction and supervision of the nurse manager. She/he acts ! as a support person to the nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team for indirect aspects of patient care. This position functions as a pivotal communication link between the health care team, other departments and patients and families.

The Candidate:
The right candidate for this position must possess a High school degree. AS or BS degree in mental health or human services related field strongly preferred.
Previous employment in an office or health care environment preferred. Previous experience in psychiatry or comparable experience in behavioral health is strongly preferred.
